Hey love birds! How did you all
spend your Valentine’s? This being our 7th Valentine’s together,
boyfriend and I spent it quite simply. I didn’t take a lot of photos. Ever
since I stopped being a food blogger, I lost interest in snapping details of my
activities. So allow me to make up in words what I lack in pictures ^_^
A week before Valentine’s, the
boyf went to the city for the weekend but unfortunately, I had a fever that
went up to 39.9 degrees! It was horrible. I thought I would be rushed to the
hospital. But he tended on me like I was a little girl – gave me a sponge bath,
cooling gel sheets and meds to drink. He also took my temperature regularly. I
thought to myself, what have I done in my life to deserve this guy? By morning,
my temperature was back to normal – 37.4 degrees! And I was up and about and
ready for Chinese New Year! We went to Chinatown, ate at one of the
oldest Chinese fast foods, and witnessed students perform a dragon dance as we
eat. It was said to bring us good luck.
Couple of days after, boyfriend
had to leave again and return to our hometown Roxas City. I couldn’t. My work
required me to stay in Iloilo, and I am also pursuing my education in law in
this city. This predicament enabled us to see each other only four times a
month – more or less. But because it was Valentine’s day, he had to return here
again not long after he just left ^_^
Both of us have big appetites.
That’s out of the question. So it was settled that we will be having a dinner
buffet for our Valentine’s date. We finally decided with the recently opened
Gloria Maris in Amigo Terrace Hotel, one of the finest Chinese restaurants in
the country.
It’s one of the few Valentine’s that we spent on the day itself,
to avoid the rush. Sometimes we spend it
on Valentine’s Day Eve – February 13th, and await the coming of
midnight.
The food at Gloria Maris was, although it kept running out on the buffet table, splendid. There were about 5 or 7 main courses, 2 choices of soup, a few desserts, and wait for this - a dim sum bar! I just loooove dim sum and Gloria Maris serves only the freshest and tastiest. I find it amusing that Gloria Maris also serves taho, which I also love!
Except for the single-stemmed
rose he gave me, there’s nothing cheesy for our presents. I think we have
eventually “graduated” from giving corny gifts. LOL! We want to give each other
practical things, something that we can actually make use of – and not just to
display and gather dust. He gave me three copies of classic novels – Jane Eyre,
A Tale of Two Cities and Uncle Tom’s Cabin. For him, I gave a pair of jogging pants.
I knew he was looking for a good pair to inspire him to do more exercise. Now,
he’s been jogging every other day! So I guess it worked :P
Check out how we spent Valentine's day last year, and couple years ago! ^_^

Ow! Lucky you got well! I would have fainted already if I had that fever.
