I feel so great to have attended yet another prom in my life. I really thought a couple of years ago, it would be my last. For those of you who have been following me ever since, you may remember this post about my Black Parade prom. But then, together with my designer friend Em Trava, I got invited to judge UP College of Management's prom for this year with the theme "The Great Gatsby". I love everything about The Great Gatsby and I was so elated to be a judge in this event. It was unfortunate, though, that Em was not able to come because of heavier engagements.
Here's my look of the night! I did my own "flapper" inspired hair and make-up. This is my fourth judging stint in my alma mater by the way. I also judged an event in the same University couple of weeks before. And the two others were years ago. So nice to back from time to time!
With the lovely model Kryzza! So young and so pretty. She was a co-judge.
Look at how tiny I am! Kryzza (who is barely legal) stands 6'1" with her heels! Judging with us is L of Death Note, also comparably tall. I look like a midget beside them, pero keri lang!
This is the very simple set-up, but I like the atmosphere within the hall. This venue is also where I had my last prom. Oh, time flies.
My certificate and token, which turned out to be a Starbucks mug. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!
There were several awards to fill for that night, so it was a lot of work - we barely had the time to touch the food! But judging was a lot of fun. So many of them took a lot of effort in pulling out a 1920s inspired look, which is amazing. However, it's not just about the dress nor the make-up. It's about personality, grace, and inner glow as well. If the dress is perfect but you're not able to carry it well, you won't look a tad bit like Daisy Buchanan. In the end, it's still the overall impact that matters.

And here's a photo I stole from one of the students' Facebook page ^_^ These girls won two of the major awards that night. Juliette (left) was awarded "The Lovely Daisy" - the name given to the Prom Queen, and Cleo (right) went home as "Jordan Baker" - the Best Dressed Female. You can infer, of course, that the Prom King was termed The Great Gatsby. And several other awards are coined from the names in the iconic literature as well. The craziest and funniest award, in my opinion, was The Hungry Bird - the person who went to the buffet table the most number of times. Hilarious!
The rest of the photos are from Instagram, as I have not the time to take actual photos that night. Follow me there? @angeldiamante13
